On January 6, the team gathered for the reveal of the 2024 game, CRESCENDO. This year SubZero co-hosted kickoff here in Esko with DNA Robotics from Denfeld High School. Ripsaw Robotics from Cloquet and the Hermantown Talons joined us for conversations about the new game and team dynamics.
CRESCENDO’s game piece is a foam ring called a note, which robots launch into the Speaker, place in the Amp, and score on the stage during the endgame. With the game revealed, we were officially in build season: six to eight weeks of designing, prototyping and testing our competition robot.
That robot became Lil’ Scoots, our 10th-season robot: a compact swerve-drive bot short enough to drive under the stage.
