At the 2025 Northern Lights Regional in Duluth, longtime SubZero coach Laura Zimny was named a Woodie Flowers Finalist. The Woodie Flowers Finalist Award honors mentors who lead, inspire and empower students through excellent communication. It is one of the highest honors a mentor can receive in FIRST. The honor recognizes Coach Zimny’s many seasons leading SubZero’s safety, media and strategy work.
The team also earned the Gracious Professionalism Award at Northern Lights, and later in the season won the Excellence in Engineering Award at the Green Country Regional in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where we ranked 7th of 41 and captained Alliance 4.
Congratulations, Coach Zimny, and thank you!
